Roots blowers that have been idle for a long time may encounter various problems when restarted. A common issue is that they may seize up. Today, Mingfeng Machinery will share some knowledge related to the equipment.

1. Foreign objects are stuck.
Large particles entering the blower's chamber can block the gaps in various parts, preventing the Roots blower from rotating. This fault requires cleaning the foreign objects from the chamber and checking the gaps between the impellers. Additionally, check the cause of the foreign object falling to avoid the fault from happening again.
2. Impeller damage.
When the impeller is damaged, the fan may seize up. This fault is easy to understand; the impellers may be meshed together, preventing rotation. This fault requires disassembling the casing for inspection.
3. Gear damage.
The normal meshing area of the gears is about 2/3. If the meshing area exceeds this, the meshing force between the gears becomes too great, preventing rotation and causing the fan to stop.
4. Bearing damage.
There are four bearings on the Roots blower. If the bearings are damaged, the gaps between the impellers, casing, and wall panels change, causing friction between the impellers and preventing the blower from rotating. This is an indirect cause of the gap change between the impellers and a common reason for the impellers not rotating.
5. Rust seizing.
If the blower has been idle for a long time, rust may form inside and outside, causing the impellers to seize against the wall panels and casing, or large areas of rust may flake off, potentially causing the impellers to jam. This situation requires soaking in kerosene and cleaning with gasoline to remove rust, followed by adjusting the gaps.
6. Part deformation.
Cases of part deformation preventing the blower from rotating are rare. Some manufacturers reduce costs, leading to parts with insufficient strength. The likelihood of low-priced Roots blowers of the same model having thin castings and fine shaft necks is high. If the part strength does not meet standards, deformation can occur, and long-term storage of another product can also lead to part deformation.
7. Motor failure.
If a blower has been idle for a long time and the motor fails, it obviously cannot rotate. However, motor failure is easy to diagnose; if the motor does not rotate, the blower cannot rotate. When there is a motor failure, please check the blower's motor and troubleshoot the issue.
