  In use, certain faults are inevitable. We need to identify the causes of the faults and the methods to address them, thereby better ensuring the operation of the equipment and extending its service life.

  Insufficient gas volume of the Roots vacuum pump causes the pump to fail to fully exert its efficiency and cannot meet the process requirements.

  The possible causes of this fault may include: insufficient pump speed; poor sealing, air leakage at the intake pipeline or shaft seal connection; excessive gaps between the pump rotor and rotor, rotor outer ring and pump casing, and rotor end face and end cover circumference, leading to increased backflow, high ambient temperature or cooling water temperature. The treatment methods are as follows:

  1. IfRoots vacuum pumpthe pump speed is insufficient, and the pumping capacity is proportional to the pump speed, the pumping capacity of the pump will decrease. There are two situations: one is that the pump speed is not properly matched, meaning the pulley diameter is not suitable (i.e., the speed ratio is inappropriate), which can be resolved by replacing the pulley or changing the pulley diameter; the other is improper belt installation, lack of tension, and belt slippage, which reduces the speed. The motor position can be adjusted to ensure the belt has a certain tension.

  2. Identify the location of the air leak and handle it according to the specific situation. If the connection flange is leaking, it may be due to loose connection screws, damaged or deteriorated gaskets, or uneven flange surface processing. If there is an air leak at the shaft seal, it may be due to incorrect installation or cracking of the sealing cup. In this case, replace the cup and install it correctly. If the packing is sealed, the blocked packing can be pulled out and replaced with new packing. However, the joints of the packing should be staggered and overlap with each other, and the interface of the first round should be offset from the interface of the second round, not at the same position.

  3. It has been observed that an increase in ambient temperature leads to a decrease in pumping volume. In this case, try to lower the temperature of the injected water.
