Roots blowers are positive displacement blowers, where the air volume delivered is proportional to the speed. A small gap is always maintained between the impeller end face and the front and rear end covers of the blower, as well as between the blower impeller. Driven by the synchronous gears, the air is transported from the blower inlet along the inner wall of the casing to the discharge side.

The Roots blower is a positive displacement blower, where the air volume delivered is proportional to the speed. A small gap is always maintained between the impeller end face and the front and rear end covers of the blower, as well as between the blower impeller. Driven by the synchronous gear, air is transported from the blower inlet along the inner wall of the casing to the discharge side. The Roots blower is widely used in various fields such as petrochemicals, building materials, electricity, metallurgy, fertilizers, mining, ports, light textiles, food, papermaking, aquaculture, sewage treatment, and environmental protection industries, mostly for transporting air, but it can also be used to transport flammable, explosive, and corrosive gases such as coal gas, hydrogen, acetylene, and carbon dioxide.

Roots blowers can be roughly divided into single-stage and double-stage types based on their working methods. A blower with only one compression stage is called a single-stage blower, while a blower that connects two single-stage blowers in series for continuous double compression of gas is called a double-stage blower. Based on the number of impeller blades: two-blade Roots blower and three-blade Roots blower; based on Applications: vertical kiln blower, gasification blower, aeration blower, etc.; based on the type of medium: air blower, coal gas blower, hydrogen blower, sulfur dioxide blower, etc.; based on the transmission method: direct-coupled blower and belt-driven blower, etc.; based on the cooling method: air-cooled blower, water-cooled blower, and counterflow cooled blower, etc.; based on structural type: vertical blower, horizontal blower, vertical axis blower, and dense group blower, etc.; based on sealing type: various types of blowers with labyrinth seal, expansion ring seal, packing seal, and mechanical seal.
